Safely Seeing the Solar Eclipse

21st March 2015

On Friday 20th March 2015, we all safely watched the amazing, partial solar eclipse.

Pupils in Earth Works made pinhole cameras to watch the eclipse. They were delighted with how well they worked. The older children watched the eclipse using the largest camera they made, whilst the younger pupils watched live coverage from the Kielder Observatory and BBC.

Everyone was fascinated by how much darker it got and the older pupils recorded the temperature drop as more of the sunlight was blocked.

The older pupils then researched further about how eclipses happen and could relate this to what they had personally experienced.
