Battle of the Ellingham Backsides

21st March 2014

Forget Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage and their effort to each sit on 45,000 seats at Wembley Stadium, Sport Relief Day at Ellingham saw the 59 children from early years to year four battle it out to sit on all their 59 classroom seats.

The seats were set out to form a gladiatorial auditorium (much in the style of Wembley) in the school hall as the children emulated the BBC television presenters and former footballers.

With Mrs Lakey, Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Swinbank as scrutineers ensuring fair play, we are the children and staff broke the Ellingham record for the greatest number of backsides sitting in chairs in a single day (previous record unknown). With all 59 children sitting in all 59 seats, that was 3,481 backsides placed on 3,481 seats in aid of Sport Relief.

With some sponsorship still to come in, we have raised approximately £250 so far! Thank you for all who gave so generously.
